Here is a photo of a gown I made for my sister's baby, Colton (due in May 2009). Very simple smocking included (that's my kind of smocking).
Below is a photo of the baby's bedding and quilt I made. When I know the baby's name, I'll make a monogrammed pillow.

Wow, Elyse. I am SUPER impressed!
ReplyDeleteYou're much more tech savy than me. I didn't know where to comment so I commented on all three. You have really been busy! Thank you so much for sending me this blog, too. Emily and I are going to open a blog "store" soon. We need the money! I just like to do so many different things and I want something to do part time around helping keep Paige two days a week and figured this would be an idea. Now whether it works or not, we'll see. But I'm like you. I love to sew. I like to smock but have quit doing it because it takes too much time and if you're trying to sell it, you don't get your money's worth. (Although they do have smocking you can do on machine now just like the applique, embroidery, etc. and we have a turkey design but haven't taken the time to learn it yet.) I would do that. Do you know how to do that? Good hearing from you and seeing all that you've made. I'm so excited to hear boy or girl!! I'll be checking in. I voted boy (don't know why). Is Mary's boy due in May? I can't remember there are so many babies being born now. TTYL
ReplyDeleteOne more question - is that top photo of the baby daygown like the one I made for Rebecca?
ReplyDeleteThe applique patterns are made by OESD (don't ask me what that stands for! ha!) and they're called Baby Minkee Applique - 20 designs, all cute little animals. I've made two sets of twin blankets with them - one for Reagan with frogs with crowns on their heads on white flannel and one set with giraffes on white flannel. Then I've made all sorts of burp cloths, baby blankets, Tshirts, some squares I'm saving to put a quilt together (some day).
ReplyDeleteI got the colored diapers for burp cloths at Target but Emily and I were in there just a few days ago and we couldn't find any. They came in sets of baby blue, navy blue, lime green, hot pink, baby pink, etc. I don't know if they've discontinued them or not. If they did, I wish I'd bought more. Maybe we all could check online.
As far as fabric goes, I have at least THIRTEEN or more HUGE rubbermaid-type containers full of fabric. I'm trying to organize it into all solids in one color and all prints in one color so we can go to what we want faster. In addition to that, I cannot tell you how many sets of 5 inch charms, jellyrolls, fat quarters, quilt kits, etc. that I have waiting to be sewn. I AM SICK, I tell you. But some of this fabric I've had for 20+ years and it's still ok so far. I took a class at the quilt shop in Montgomery called Scrap Therapy and that helped me feel better about it. Anything less than a fat quarter was considered a scrap and they asked for no U-Hauls please! ha! We cut 5 inch, 3 1/2 in., 2 in, and even 1 in. squares to make up our own design packs. That made me feel better. I'll never live long enough to finish all these projects but it's my passion, too. I also have needlepoint, cross stitch and all kinds of handwork kits and projects leftover from when I owned a needlework shop a few years ago in Prattville. I still like to do hand work, too. Hope you find the colored diapers. Maybe you could google it, too. Let me know if you find them. And we need to swap photos of our fabric stash! ha!
