I need to start updating this sewing blog more often. I sometimes remember to take pictures of the things I make. But, I often forget to save them and upload them here. Below are a few things I have completed this month. Lots more I've been working on and have completed.

In the last Sew Beautiful issue, there was a free pattern given for the cutest little swimsuit. I HAD to make it! I have to be honest: I dropped everything else I was doing to make this swimsuit. My friend Meredith loves my sewing. She's always so sweet and often asks me to applique, monogram or make something for her little girl or for a gift. People like her make me feel SO good! She appreciates the little things I do. Claire (her little girl) turned 2 this year. I was at a loss with what to give her. Well, either 2 or 3 months AFTER her party, I made this little number. Sad, huh? I will give gifts....sometimes they're very late, sometimes on time and sometimes early. This one was very late. Anyway, Claire was modeling for me. I think she really liked the suit. I made it big so that she could grow into it. I know that next summer she will probably swim more than this summer so I made a size 3. I'll have to adjust the elastic.
But, I just LOVE making things for people who love them!

I'm also working on 3 outfits now. Two bubbles and a jon jon. I absolutely despise cutting things out. When it's time, I cut out as much as I can at once one night, then start assembling over a few other nights.

This is one of my favorite appliques I've completed thus far. The outfit is Children's Corner "Johnny" and the applique has buttons on the inside of the bubble gum machine.
This is the reversible side of the Johnny.

This is a (rather poor) attempt at an applique without the hoop and by hand.

A bubble for a friend's little girl to be here sometime in April.

Chery Williams' Baby Bubbles pattern. Not my favorite pattern because I had a very difficult time understanding the directions. At least it turned out okay and fits! And, I used turkey work for the bunny tails.

This was made using Nancy Coburn's Boy's Button On Suit in cream and blue linen with tatting (applied by machine) and shadow work by hand.

I need to be better about posting what I have made. I did complete a couple of appliques for Troy and I'll post those (maybe) sometime. So the jon jon above is for a friend's little boy's first birthday. I think it turned out great. She picked out the colors. It is reversible and has a monkey face on the other side.

The pillow matches curtains and a table topper I made for a friend. One day, I'll sneak over to her house to take some photos of the finished curtains hanging in her baby's room.

You know how the holidays seem to make your life busier than usual? I fell into that crack last month. Here are a few things I made of which I took photos. Others didn't get photographed (not that there was much).
The below little outfit is for Troy. The bottoms have a tiger paw on the REAR. he, he.
Also for Troy. Because Brian loves snowmen and boys need to be like their daddys, right?

So this may be my favorite applique of all times. I should have rotated the photo. Oh well. Isn't it so boy-ish?

Here's the rest of the outfit. It's is corduroy. I revised the pattern a bit. I was in a pickle because I purchased and cut out the fabric to make Troy another smocked outfit. Right after Thanksgiving, I realized I wouldn't be able to finish the picture smocking so I debated about what to do with the cut out fabric. I decided to piece the smocking pattern together, make a panel on the top of the outfit and I came up with this. Adding a little piping made it look intentional, right? I'm very happy with the outcome. I went to the fabric store and bought enough fabric to make an outfit with the smocking for Troy for next Christmas. Seeing that it is January, surely I can finish the smocking by this Thanksgiving (that gives me roughly 11 months).

Now...I have the sewing bug! I've got a couple of projects up my sleeve but am contemplating about other things to do. Maybe an applique for St. Patrick's Day for T-man. But, he has SO many clothes I don't want to over-do it.

Here is a photo of a gown I made for my sister's baby, Colton (due in May 2009). Very simple smocking included (that's my kind of smocking).

Below is a photo of the baby's bedding and quilt I made. When I know the baby's name, I'll make a monogrammed pillow.
